We are pleased to announce that we have been appointed by Guildmore Ltd as Approved Inspectors on two large projects in East London, which form part of an urban renewal plan in The London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The renewal comprises two parts: a new build, ten storey residential building which will provide 60 affordable housing units, and secondly the restoration of the Grade II listed Poplar Baths.

Poplar Baths residential building is the residential component of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets’ historic Baths (1934) regeneration urban renewal.

The renewal comprises two parts: the new residential building south of the Baths, designed by CZWG, and restoration of the Grade II listed Baths by PRS Architects. The project began as a two stage Design, Build, Manage OJEU competition. CZWG, PRS Architects and Guildmore Ltd were selected as the development partners in March 2013, and planning was granted in September 2013.

The residential building occupies a former little used ball park and garages site; a constrained urban site between the Baths’ existing residential buildings, and the DLR rail track.

The building will provide 60 affordable housing units. There is a varied mix of apartment types in acceptance with local needs. All are designed to London Plan requirements, and 10% are wheelchair accessible. The proposals offer character and legibility to a neglected urban space, bringing stimulus to enhance the pattern of buildings and public space.
