Act Surveyors have provided a range of our services for both existing and new industrial type uses including factories, light and heavy industrial, mezzanine floors, self storage, high bay warehouses and car parks, etc.

We have provided Approved Inspector services for many low rise industrial and factory type buildings, new storage buildings and extensions and alterations to existing buildings. As such we are experienced in all matters pertaining to this type of building including the foundation solutions, super structure/frame types, flooring and cladding.

Our services are beneficial to our clients as we can provide:

  • Single Point of Contact – Ensure a consistent approach to regulations compliance.  Typical inconsistencies in respect of fire safety assessment may include structural fire protection and escape stair requirements. Any inconsistencies encountered in the past could be resolved by using our approved inspector services.
  • Confident in Risk Areas – These premises can have higher risks in terms of health and safety and fire risks. Act Surveyors have experience in these relevant risks that may be present before, during and after construction.  Risks such as contaminated land, steel frame erection, high volume vehicle movement/flows, high hazard industrial processes, etc are well understood by our surveyors.
  • Compliance Awareness – Some of these buildings have been subject to fire engineered solutions to satisfy Part B and we are familiar with the potential variations that can be permitted.  If fire engineered solutions are proposed and to avoid delays to the construction stage works, these must be approved by us at the earliest stage possible.While storage buildings have some issues that may be overlooked or not assessed correctly with regard to Part L compliance.  These may include the requirement to comply with the energy efficiency requirements when a building is not intended to be heated and the requirement for Air Pressure Testing and SBEM calculations.
