Air Pressure Testing

Act Building Control provide Air Pressure Testing (also known as air tightness, air leakage or air permeability testing). Under building regulations Part L1A (new dwellings) & L2A (new buildings other than dwellings) a minimum standard for air tightness is stipulated for all new properties hence the need for an Air Pressure Test and Air Pressure Test Certificate.

A test is carried out on site to measure the air leakage within a property through gaps, cracks and holes within the thermal envelope. A Building Regulations Completion Certificate will only be issued if the air test results and report indicate compliance with the minimum and that inputted into the appropriate energy rating.

In the event of failing an air tightness test, the building will need to be inspected and any air leakage paths and gaps sealed accordingly before another test is carried out.
