Sound Insulation Testing

Act Building Control provide Sound Insulation Testing (airborne tests on walls and floors separating dwellings and impact tests on floors) for both new and refurbished buildings to establish if they are compliant with Part E of the Building Regulations, Eco Homes (2003 & 2006) and The Code of Sustainable Home Assessments.

A test is carried out on site to measure the noise levels in each room, from one room to another (side by side, or from above). Using specialised equipment and a sound level meter, acoustic measurements can be calculated.  A completion certificate will only be issued if the Sound Testing results and report indicate compliance with Part E of the Building Regulations.

In the event of a wall or floor not achieving the Part E requirements, it may be necessary to carry out remedial works before having another sound test carried out.  We can provide you with remedial design advice to help you achieve the Building Regulations requirements.
